Eligibility
To get a new connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the applicant must satisfy all of the following conditions:
The applicant must be a woman who has attained 18 years of age.
There should be no other LPG connection from any Oil Marketing Company (OMC) within the same household.
The adult woman must belong to a poor household, declared through a deprivation declaration in the prescribed format.
Documents Required
While applying, the applicant must submit the following documents:
Know Your Customer (KYC) application form.
Proof of Identity — Aadhaar copy of the applicant.
Proof of Address — required only if the address on Aadhaar is different from the current residential address. Migrant applicants must submit a Self Declaration as per Annexure I.
Ration Card issued by the State from which the application is being made, or any other State Government document certifying family composition. Migrant applicants must submit a Self Declaration as per Annexure I.
Aadhaar copy of the applicant and of all adult family members named in the family-composition document above.
Bank Account details — passbook copy or cancelled cheque.
Deprivation Declaration in the prescribed format.
Applicants are advised to keep both originals and self-attested copies ready at the time of submission.
How to Apply
The PMUY application can be submitted in two ways:
Choose a distributor of your choice — IOCL (Indane), BPCL (Bharat Gas) or HPCL (HP Gas).
Offline route: Visit the selected LPG distributor and submit the KYC application form along with all the documents listed above.
Online route: Submit the request through the online PMUY portal by selecting the preferred OMC and distributor, filling the KYC form and uploading the required documents.
After submission, the distributor will verify the deprivation declaration and other documents.
Once verified and approved, the new PMUY LPG connection will be issued to the applicant.
Tip: Keep the Aadhaar of every adult family member listed on the ration card / family-composition document handy — missing any of these is the most common reason for delays in approval.
Important Instructions
The connection must be issued in the name of the adult woman of the household — male applicants are not eligible.
Only one connection is allowed per household across all Oil Marketing Companies.
Submission of the deprivation declaration is mandatory; false declarations may lead to cancellation of the connection.
For any issue during application or use, candidates can call the dedicated helpline numbers given below.
